Nong & Jimmy's is located in a corner of KL - to head there you'll have to brave the crawl along Jalan Tun Razak, and toward Ampang. Since this was unfamiliar territory, we decided we would wait for rush hour traffic to die down before attempting this. I had heard about Nong & Jimmy's from various sources so I was hoping that the effort would justify the dinner!

While we were deciding our orders, we got a plate of yau char kwai or dough fritters. Unlike the long ones you dip into your porridge, these are only a finger's length. It comes with a plate of sweet (almost worryingly green!) kaya to dip into. The saltish taste of the yau char kwai was offset by the kaya and prepped our stomachs for the food.

The rest of our food came all at once - a plate of kangkung, little clams stir-fried in a light broth, a claypot of tom yum soup, grilled stingray, grilled squid and baked crabs.

This is the second time I've been to Nong & Jimmy's and I've found that its always been quite consistent in quality.

With food this simply prepared, it would be hard to go wrong as long as the produce is fresh. Make sure you dress casual though, this is definitely the type of place where you'll want to attack the food with your fingers!
